When I first wrote about the OFW Pamilya Center back in December, some of the stalls within the center were still un-occupied.
I saw an article on the Inquirer last weekend announcing: “One-stop shop in Cavite offers OFW convenience to the max”
Here are some excerpts:
Located in Robinson’s Mall Dasmarinas in Cavite, the OFW Pamilya Center, which features a remittance company, a money changer, an Internet shop and telecommunications establishement — the primary services OFWs and their families need regularly — are situated in a zone that houses recruitment and travel agencies, pre-need institutions, real estate enterprises and a courier service, among others.
Because of its 300-square meter size, the OFW Pamilya center easily tranforms into a meeting place for workshops and sminars on livelihood programs, microfinance and entrepreneurship — aimed at promoting wealth managemen to people like Laurence, so they can take the dollar remittances they receive from their loved ones abroad towards a more productive direction.
The center also becomes an ideal place to visit for OFWs who want to invest in property because real estate companies, with special packages specifically for OFW families, often conduct product launches there.
It must be the presence of partner-government institutions that adds to the “home” feel of the center which caters to up to 200 people a day.
the overseas Workers Welfare Administrations, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and the Pag-Ibig were all represented, along with the National Bureau of Investiation, the Social Security System and the Government Service Insurance System, all helpin in more efficient document processing, loan application, and even with providing counseling.
Here’s to seeing more of these synergistic services for OFWs!
