As an OFW and an automatic OWWA member, one may receive benefits from certain programs of the agency. One of the programs of OWWA is the Insurance and Health-Care Program. It
is important that our OFWs are aware that in cases of accidents and deaths, they or their beneficiaries can claim a certain amount.
OWWA or Overseas Workers Welfare Administration is a govenrment agency who is in charge of promoting the welfare and well-being of OFWs as well as their dependents. It is an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
There are four types of benefits available for members during the duration of their employement:
a. Life/Accident Insurance
100,000 for natural death
200,000 for accidental death
b. Disability and Disemberment Benefits

Like any other insurance programs, there are documentary requirements for claiming the benefits. You may click on this link to view the complete list of the requirements. You can also click on this link to visit OWWA’s site.
Like any other insurance programs, there are certain instances wherein one can not claim benefits since it is not covered by the insurance policy so be sure to read the details. You may address to OWWA your other inquiries and feedbacks.
