YesPinoy, is a branch of Yes IT Corp., has just announced the launch of its new remittance service in Hong Kong. This is a much more convenient way to send money to your loved ones. No need to wait for long lines or memorize codes and passwords. All you need to do is go to the nearest 7-11 convenient store near you and remit. To use the service, all you need to have is a YesPinoy membership card and a Smart money card for you beneficiary. What’s good, both cards are free. Sending Money

Sending money is as easy as buying your favorite can of soda. Just walk in to any 7-11 outlet, hand over your YesPinoy card and the amount you wish to send. The cashier will then scan the bar code in your card, this will identify you and the beneficiary. Select the recipient, and the system will automatically send the remittance. The transaction should take 15 seconds or less. The first remittance using is free, but a flat rate of HK$20 will be charged for succeeding remittances thereon.

Receiving Money

A free SMS notification will be sent to your beneficiary once the remittance is transferred in their Smart money cards. To collect the remittance, the beneficiary will just have to go to their nearest BDO, Bancnet, Expressnet and Megalink ATM terminals nationwide, and withdraw! They can also use the remittance to pay other bills, fees, and make purchases.

Other Features

YesPinoy is well known for sending money through credit card service. Aside from Smart money card, they also cater to UnionBank clients through UnionBank EON Card. All you need to do is to weigh the good and the bad of each service and decide which one would be best for you.

Good

  • What’s good about this service is that it makes remittance accessible to more and more users. People who have no access to computers and the internet can easily use this service. Over 600 7-11 stores are converted to remittance centers for your convenience.

  • One YesPinoy card can have three beneficiaries.

  • YesPinoy website is always updated with the current exchange rates. So you are abreast with the information on how much your loved once actually receive on their accounts

  • Security is out of the question as Smart is one of the leading companies in the Philippines.

  • No need for your beneficiary to open a bank account! Smart money functions as a debit card and ATM card where your friends and family can withdraw as much as P20,000 in one day.

  • Good news for our kababayans in Japan in Europe. Plans for similar service are in the works in the mentioned regions.

Not So Good

  • Since this service is new, I found limited information on the website. I wasn’t able to find out how to reload the YesPinoy card.
